Places to visit in Jodhpur
Mehrangarh Fort was built by Rao Jodha in the year 1459, this fort is situated on top of a hill at a height of 150 meters, in which total 7 gates are present, at present a part of this fort has been converted into a museum where the royal palanquins are located.
As soon as you enter the palace, you will first find the Moti Mahal where once the royal queens used to see the action taking place under the royal rule.
After this, you can see the Sheesh Mahal where magnificent glass work has been done which looks very beautiful and will fascinate you.
Next to it you can see Phool Mahal which has magnificent flower paintings which used to be a place of royal entertainment. This palace is used for dancing. There is also a palanquin where there is a palanquin of queens made of gold and silver.
Machia Biological Park
This park is located at a distance of 9 km from Jodhpur city. Which is the natural habitat of wild cat, desert fox, rabbit and monkeys.
Apart from this, this park is a very special place for bird lovers. There is also a fort in the park from where the panoramic view of sunset is visible.
Chamunda Devi temple
Chamunda Devi Temple was built in the year 1407 by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur. It is a royal temple which is located near Mehrangarh Fort.
Every year on Dussehra, a lot of devotees come here for the sunset aarti. Local people consider this temple to be the defense armor of Jodhpur.
Located at a distance of 2 km from Jodhpur city, this temple is considered an architectural marvel. This ancient temple stands on 84 pillars. Many more ancient temples are also included in the premises of this temple.
Surrounded by lush green garden, it is situated on Jodhpur Mandore Road. Balsamand Lake Palace is also situated in the middle of this lake,which was used by the royal family of Jodhpur to spend time in summer. Presently this place is one of the famous heritage hotel.
This place is one of the most prominent places in Jodhpur, which is famous for its long stone corridors, here the monument of the rulers of Jodhpur can also be seen.
Out of all these monuments, the most attractive is the monument of Maharaja Ajit Singh, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The temple of 33 crore deities of Rajasthan is also located here and there was a temple of Bhairav ji.
The clock tower was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh of Jodhpur, which is located in Sardar Market, earlier there was a restriction to go up in this tower.
At present one can go to the top of the tower by taking a ticket of Rs. 10, from the top of this tower you can see the market, city,and Mehrangarh Fort. This location is one of the best places in Jodhpur. It is a great pleasure to see the lighting view of this clock tower at night.
Sadar Bazar is one of the oldest market in India which is famous for its Rajasthani clothes, for handicrafts, Jodhpuri safa, Jodhpuri suits, ivory bangles, classical silver jewelery and very famous antique items for shopping. Apart from this, you can also find here street food of Jodhpur like Mawa Kachori and Lassi.
Roa Jodha Desert Park
Rao Jodha Desert Park is spread over an area of 72 hectares.which was located near Mahrangrh Fort,
This park was built in the year 2006, to stop the natural ecology around the fort. More than 250 species of plants are seen in this park.
Jaswant Thada is situated near Mehrangarh Fort which is a beautiful marble monument of Maharaj Jaswant Singh II which was built by his son Sardar Singh Jaswant Thada is known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar because of its perplexing marble carvings.
This landmark is underlying the state of a sanctuary. One part of it is for the royal family and the second part is the taj hotel and third part is the Umaid Museum .
Umaid Bhawan Palace
This palace was named after its founder Maharaj Umed Singh. This palace is also known as Chittar Palace. This palace is made of sandstone.
At present, a part of this palace has been converted into a heritage hotel and another into a museum. Here you can see the dining and furniture of the royal family and ancient paintings.
Apart from this, you can see the clock collection and weapons used in olden times. Don’t forget to visit Ratanada Ganesh temple near Umaid Bhawan, from where the view of Jodhpur City is very spectacular.
This lake is located at a distance of 8 km from Jodhpur city, it is an artificial lake, this lake is used for water supply for the Jodhpur city and here you can also do photography, here Siberian cranes are seen in winters.
Here you can climb 355 steps and visit the highest Mahadev temple in Jodhpur.
