The history of Udaipur is about 400 years old, Udaipur was founded by Maharaj Jai Singh in 1559.
Maharaja Jai Singh was ruling Chittorgarh at that time, but there were frequent Mughal attacks on Chittorgarh. To protect himself, Maharaja Jai Singh thought of settling in Udaipur, and in this sequence, Moti Mahal was built in Udaipur.
Moti Mahal is considered to be the first palace of Udaipur and at present, this palace is known as Moti Nagri.
Places to visit in Udaipur
City Palace is the most beautiful and popular city in Udaipur. It is the largest of its kind in Rajasthan, which was built by Raja Udai Singh as the capital of the Rajput tribes.
It is also situated on the banks of the lake, with 11 palaces in its complex. The City Palace was built on top of a hill. which provides a hill view of the whole city.
This temple was built in the year 1651 by Maharaj Jagat Singh of Udaipur, which was earlier known as Jagannath Rai Temple. This temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu is the largest temple of Udaipur.
This three-story structure is made up of magnificent carved walls. There is also a magnificent image of Lord Garuda who guards the gates of Lord Vishnu.
Apart from this, there are four other temples located nearby which are dedicated to Lord Surya, Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva, and Mother Shakti.
Bagore ki Haweli
Bagore ki Haveli was built by Amir Chand Madhava. The beautiful carving work done in this haveli is the main attraction here. There is also a museum here that displays the culture and tradition of Mewar through the royal objects.
But in all this a peacock made of beautiful colored mirrors is the main attraction here.
Saheliyon ki Badi
Saheliyon ki Bari was built by Raja Sangram Singh in the 18th century. It is believed that the king built this place for 50 slaves who came with his queen. This place is famous for its lush green lawns, beautiful waterfalls, and marble work.
The main attraction here is the fountains that were exported from England. There is also a museum here in which the objects of the royal family can be seen.
Apart from this, the lotus pond and rose garden present here are very beautiful, tourists also enjoy these ponds.
Vintage car museum
Apart from the palaces, tourists can also see the Vintage Car Museum in Udaipur. The special thing about this museum is that this museum is run by the descendants of Maharana Pratap, many vehicles present here are still in working condition.
There are many models of Rolls Royal and Mercedes cars in this collection of Mewar royalty. This museum is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
The beautiful place was built by Maharaja Sajjan Singh, hence this place is also known as Sajjan Niwas Garden. This park is the biggest garden in Udaipur.

Sajjangarh Palace, which is also known as Monsoon Palace is a very beautiful building of Udaipur, this palace was built by Maharaja Sajjan Singh in the year 1884, which is completely made of white marble.
This palace is situated at an altitude of about 950 meters above sea level, it was used to view the rain clouds. The surrounding rural area can be seen by standing here.
Lake Pichola is an artificial lake, whose name is derived from the village named Pichola. The dam was constructed to meet the requirements of drinking water and irrigation, which led to the creation of this lake.
Maharana Udai Singh liked the lake very much and had built the city of Udaipur on its banks. This lake is spread over a large area of 690 hectares.
There are four islands in the middle of the lake, where one can see the Lake Palace, Jag Mandir Palace, and Mohan Mandir.
Jag Mandir Palace
This temple is situated on the top of four islands. Which was built by three Rajput kings of the Mewar dynasty.
Its construction was started by Maharaja Amar Singh and completed by Maharana Jagat Singh. That is why it was named Jagmandir after his name.
The building consists of a hall, reception area, court, and residential space. There is also a flower garden where you can see different species of flowers, the main ones being rose and jasmine flowers.
Fateh Sagar Lake
Fatehsagar Lake is a pear-shaped artificial lake that was constructed by Raja Fateh Singh. This lake is one of the four major districts of Udaipur and the lake is considered the pride of Udaipur due to its blue-colored water and lush green surroundings.
This place is also called the second Kashmir, there are three temples in the middle of the lake and Rana Pratap Palace is also situated on the banks of this lake.
